General Note:
Hearings on S. 353, to provide for the extension of enlistments in the Navy; to suspend the provisions of section 1422 of the Revised statutes (18 Stat. 484; 34 U.S.C. 201) in time of war or national emergency; and for other purposes; H.R. 4823 (S. 1470) providing for the rank of officers ordered to perform special or unusual duty, and of commanders of special naval units afloat; S. 1585 (S.703) to increase the number of midshipmen allowed at the United States Naval Academy from District of Columbia; H.R. 4687, to authorize officers and enlisted men of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps to accept such medals, orders, decorations, and presents as have been tendered them by foreign governments; H.R. 3149, providing for the pay and allowances of retired officers of the Navy and Marine Corps on active duty; S. 1586, to authorize the secretary of the Navy to accept for the United States Naval Academy such gifts and bequests as he may see fit;
