Tricia Guild's approach to life in the city is about much more than mere decorating - it is part of the general shift in attitudes that is affecting us all as we edge towards the end of the century. The mood in interior design is evolving into something softer, more soulful and individual than we have seen in recent years. Tricia Guild reveals, through her visits to her own house and to a variety of other city homes she has decorated or helped to inspire, how her new vision of modern urban living can be adapted to very different spaces, from a family town house to a tiny artisan's cottage, a New York brownstone apartment to a Parisian pied-a-terre, a couple of small, converted studios to the skyline sanctuary of a brand new London loft.

Library Journal Review

The Designers Guild, which Tricia Guild founded over 25-five years ago, is best known for its inventive use of bright, bold color combinations. Here Guild's remodeled London Victorian town house serves as an exemplar that reflects her feelings for unusual color combinations and modern design. The second half of the book presents homes in New York City and London that share Guild's sensibility. Photographed by Gilles de Chabaneix and described by Elspeth Thompson, the New York and London homes show restraint compared to Guild's chaotic use of color. A nice counterpoint to the country look; purchase where there is an interest in strong, bold, modern design. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
