"This little book ... does not attempt to tell the whole story of the Venetian occupation of Athens, but aims rather at shedding a little fresh light on some of its phases, first by presenting in the narrative of Ivanovich the version apparently current at the time in Venice, and then by illustrating or correcting this account, partly from the usual printed sources, but especially from upusblished and, so far as I am aware, largely unexamined manuscripts in Venice and Florence."--Pref.
