Booklist Review

An extremely well-researched and fact-filled guide addressing both cholesterol in childhood nutrition and how to implement good eating habits. The physician authors' strategy includes useful tips for eating in restaurants and how to include children in meal planning and preparation. The recipes are healthy and easy to prepare, but it will take work to sell most children on their merits. The Eismans urge brown rice, tofu, lentils, and fruits and vegetables. Much of the information presented here is equally applicable to adults, but since coronary heart disease and hypertension begin in childhood, prevention is the book's key element. For any library with an active nutrition collection. Glossary; no index. --Iva Freeman
