Booklist Review

Each of the 11 essays that make up the proceedings of a March 1990 conference in Tallahassee covers some aspect of preservation of materials, problems with serials, the role and effectiveness of the public library, or the library-related legislative agenda. Concerning preservation, for instance, John DePew discusses library preservation planning in Florida, and James R. Johnston discusses the Joliet Public Library restoration after arson and emergency actions. Appended are useful precis of current and developing federal and state legislation, a set of basic guidelines for disaster planning, and a bibliography. ~--Patrick Dewey
