Choice Review

Concert promotion is to many people a business endeavor related to games of chance--an endeavor best left to the wealthy or the foolish. However this book, written by members of Redwood Cultural Work, provides both experienced and beginning promoters and presenters with a logical process by which events can be mounted successfully. Divided into four areas, the text covers all the major points of concert promotion very well. Although several writers contributed to this book, the editor did an excellent job and transitions from one writer to the next are unnoticed by the reader. This book's greatest assets are in the appendixes, which include more than 130 pages of forms used for cash flow projections, sample contracts, timelines, etc. These forms have been field tested and will help avoid any errors of omission. This book is highly recommended to libraries serving the general public or arts management students. It will be useful to anyone planning an event regardless of budget size or projected attendance. -D. Hibbard, McLennan Community College
