Booklist Review

A revised edition of a book first published in 1981. New features include photographic updates of trees featured in the first edition, a chart to help clarify suggested feeding programs, and photo essays on pine pruning, glass-fiber-rock construction, and Adams' bonsai display at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. With 32 pages of color photographs and 85 black-and-white photos, the book is divided into chapters on preparation techniques, materials (such as cuttings, seedlings, and nursery stock), the mechanics of bonsai (pruning, wiring, truck development, and repotting), aesthetics, the use of Scots Pine in bonsai, and general care. A useful guide for both the beginner and the advanced bonsai buff. Index. --George Cohen
