Library Journal Review

This is the how-to-fix-it manual that launched Ten Speed Press nearly 20 years ago ( LJ 12/15/71). Aimed at riders who want to accomplish their own bicycle repairs rather than relying on a bikeshop, it remains quite good and fairly comprehensive. The new edition covers mountain bikes and index shifting as well as more traditional features and bikes. The main drawback is the illustrations: while clear, they aren't as good as photos. Libraries with Clarence W. Coles and Harold T. Glenn's Glenn's Complete Bicycle Manual ( LJ 7/73) and/or Bicycling Magazine's Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair ( LJ 5/1/86) might skip this, but the price makes it a real bargain.-- Thomas K.
