Booklist Review

Gr. 1-3. With simple phrases and bold, bright artwork, Emberley introduces Spanish to English readers and vice versa. "Let's take a walk," the book begins. On an expanse of white, a pair of long legs encased in jeans (los pantalones vaqueros) and sneakers (los tenis) steps along. As the book continues, the narrator passes by her school, the playground, a park, and assorted other places. The various things she sees are labeled in blue English words and black Spanish ones. The jaunty air definitely suggests that learning a second language can be fun. Another book by Emberley in the same attractive style and format is My House/Mi Casa. --Ilene Cooper
