Booklist Review

Meet the Caesers, who prove that the rich are different. More than money sets them apart, however, as protagonist Marion Anderson discovers during his extended stay at their isolated island mansion off the coast of Maine. He visits at the behest of Justin Caeser, with whom he is writing a musical. One quirk he immediately notices is the family's ravenous passion for devouring meat at dinnertime, matched only by their appetite for the nocturnal enjoyment of each other's assets afterwards. It becomes even weirder when Marion slowly connects the mysterious disappearance of another house guest with the nightly repast. Once he realizes that he is to be the main course at the next meal, he becomes involved in a race with his hosts to see who beats the Grim Reaper. A ghoulish tale, perfect for stormy nights. --Gilbert Taylor
