Library Journal Review

With planning, creative thinking, and sound knowledge, says noted horticulturalist Boisset, excellent gardens can be made in precious space. In this attractive book, she skillfully presents a very original and well-written view of creating a garden for city or town, featuring superbly illustrated examples from some of the best landscape gardeners working in London, Paris, and elsewhere. She includes a plant catalog of 120 plants, with trees and shrubs, hedges, climbing plants, and plants for beds and containers chosen on the basis of hardiness, beauty, and growth. A noteworthy bibliography and good index accompany the text. A gardening treasure not only for those who live in cities, but for the many visitors to those cities. Highly recommended for all public libraries and horticultural collections.-- Daniel S. Kalk, St. Alphonsus Coll. Lib., Suffield, Ct. (c) Copyright 2010.
