Library Journal Review

At 53 Meyer was a college professor, father of three grown sons, and new husband to a 26-year-old woman. Their daughter, Molly, was born just before the end of the spring semester, and Meyer volunteered to stay home and mind the baby all summer when his wife went back to work. This journal details the daily activities of father and daughter, but it is primarily a chronicle of the experience of fatherhood--very different in the Eighties from what it was in the Sixties. Meyer's account of his growing wonder and love, his fears that he may die before his daughter is grown, and Molly's emerging personality make a simple, undramatic story that moves the reader without being overly sentimental. Simply and economically written, with great depth and feeling. Highly recommended.-- Susan B. Hagloch, Tuscarawas Cty P.L., New Philadelphia, Ohio (c) Copyright 2010.
