Library Journal Review

Some 700 recipes for all courses of a meal, accompanied by lots of helpful tips and guidelines on using the microwave. Each section has a good introduction, and there are useful charts and timetables. The recipes are a real potpourri, from gelatin salads to Frozen Grand Marnier Souffle; many are familiar, ``all-American'' dishes like Creamed Chicken, adapted for the microwave. Barbara Kafka's two microwave books, The Microwave Gourmet ( LJ 9/15/87) and The Microwave Gourmet Healthstyle Cookbook ( LJ 10/15/89) are very thorough and offer a more sophisticated approach, but everyday cooks should find this compendium useful as well.
