The work of Yousef Karsh spans a period of 60 years; during this time his portraits have become known worldwide, and he is still photographing today. The publication of this book brings together in one volume not only the familiar works of Karsh but also some insightful lesser-known works, and it presents a view of Karsh that has not been explored before. The photographs represented span the period 1933-80; included are numerous images not previously published. The essays on Karsh and his work by James Borcoman, Estelle Jussium, and Phillip J. Pocock provide an informative view of this photographer and the maturity of his vision. Recommended for all academic levels and for general readers. -H. Branch, Oregon State University
