Booklist Review

Comparable to Jarrett's Timetables of Sports History: Baseball and Timetables of Sports History: Football [BKL Ag 89], this compiles in the same three-column format records of basketball highlights and statistics during the regular season (college and professional) and post-season play chronologically from 1890 through 1989. Information given includes annual winning teams of each division, leading scorers, best rebounders, scores of divisional playoffs and finals, and Hall of Fame electees (players and coaches only). Illustrated with occasional groupings of black-and-white photos. Good browsing fare for fans. Index. Gr. 7-12. --Sally Estes

Library Journal Review

This entry in the ``Timetables of Sports'' series follows the prescribed pattern of providing as much information about a specific sport as is possible in a concise format. Basketball coverage spans the entire history of the game since its introduction by James Naismith in 1891. Each page represents a single year's major events in both the collegiate and professional ranks. A three-column format lists highlights and statistics during regular and post-season play, as well as Hall of Fame inductees and All-American and All-NBA teams. This reference work is appropriate for libraries seeking to sustain their holdings in the series (which also includes . . . Football, LJ 6/15/89, and . . .Baseball ) or supplement a core reference collection.-- William H. Hoffman, Ft. Myers-Lee Cty. P.L., Fla. (c) Copyright 2010.
