Choice Review

The goal of Woollins, an active researcher in the field, is to introduce this broad and diverse field to undergraduates, an audience he feels is largely unaware of its existence. The topics are selected and the book is arranged in an order to accentuate the structural similarities of the compounds. Although bonding, synthesis, and reactions of the compounds are included, the main emphasis is on structure. Intended as a bridge between inorganic chemistry texts and the major compendia dealing with the same topics, the volume accomplishes that end and is quite readable, making it appropriate for undergraduate libraries. -P. A. Gebauer, Monmouth College (IL)
