School Library Journal Review

Gr 4-6 Another good solid mystery from the experienced pen of Scott Corbett. This sequel to Grave Doubts (Atlantic, 1982) has 16-year-old Lester and Wally pitched into a new case when a prominent but disliked lawyer in their small town is murdered. The chief suspect is the head of a coven of witches. However, Lester and Wally have overheard information that puts them on a different trail. Witch Hunt has several touches of humor and somewhat more subtle plotting and characterization than most mysteries for this age level. It is similar in style to Terrance Dicks' ``Baker Street Irregulars'' series (Lothrop) but has the advantage of being set in the northeastern United States instead of England. Corbett's new book should circulate well at any library where there is a demand for mysteries. Kathleen L. Birtciel, Phoenix Public Library (c) Copyright 2010.
