Summary:
Photographs of people on the streets of Buffalo, NY in 1967, mostly downtown and on the East Side. Donald Blank created the images for a student project while he attended the State University of New York at Buffalo. The photographs, taken with an SLR Pentax camera, are black-and-white street portraits, mostly candid, of people from all walks of life. In downtown Buffalo, he captured mostly Main Street shoppers--elderly men and women, and a few children and loitering young adults during a parade. A few stores and other businesses can be seen in the background--signs for Chandler's and the Chippewa Hotel are visible in some photos. Other photographs we taken on the East Side; Blank took photos of African American children playing in residential areas, and other street scenes. The collection consists of digital prints created circa 2015: 4 x 6 [53] and 8 x 10 [12].
