Publisher's Weekly Review

Werewolf Elena Michaels can't catch a break in this absorbing, lengthy Otherworld Nights novella, set three years after she became Alpha of the North American Pack. Elena may have broken through the Pack's glass ceiling, but she still endures the struggles of any high-powered professional woman: other Alphas question her authority, and her eight-year-old daughter, Kate, resents the time she spends away on business. When Kate runs off just as Elena receives a series of cryptic calls, Elena goes on high alert. As she, her husband, and various Pack members search for Kate, she scents a dangerous rogue werewolf previously banished from North America. Finding Kate and keeping her safe become more complicated and difficult when the girl begins experiencing a sort of paranormal puberty. Armstrong's writing is alternately taut and intimate, and readers facing societal pressures around career and family will appreciate that at least they aren't having to fight off violent monsters as well. Library Journal Review

Werewolf Elena Michaels is heading home from London where she had been negotiating with the difficult alpha of the most powerful European pack when she gets the news any mother dreads: her eight-year-old daughter is missing. Elena and her mate Clay don't lack for enemies, but young Kate had been acting up and it's just possible she has run away. Elena is chilled when evidence points to Malcolm Danvers, a psychotic former pack member whom they've been tracking for years. VERDICT This substantial novella will be a welcome addition for fans of the series who want more of Elena, the only female werewolf (last featured in 2009's Frostbitten). Our heroine continues to struggle to get respect from those who don't believe she should exist, especially as alpha of a pack. Although motherhood has changed Elena, she's still a formidable predator. (c) Copyright 2015. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
