Author Notes

Sarah Ballantyne is the Ph.D. behind the blog www.the paleomom.com, cohost of The Paleo View podcast, and author of The Paleo Approach and The Paleo Approach Cookbook. Sarah Ballantyne has found explanations of science behind the Paleo diet and lifestyle, along with a strong focus on modifications for autoimmune disease sufferers.

Sarah started her academic career in physics, earning an Honors Bachelor of Science with Distinction from the University of Victoria, Canada in 1999. Her honors thesis work was in radiation therapy for prostate cancer, which prompted her to look for medical research applications in graduate school . Sarah earned her doctorate degree in medical biophysics at The University of Western Ontario in 2003.

Sarah spent the next four years doing medical research in Cardiology and then Cell Biology. In Toronto, Sarah continued her research in the fields of innate immunity, inflammation, vascular biology, critical care medicine, and gene therapy, with a new focus on Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

All of this research lead Sara Ballantyne to write her two books The Paleo Approach and The Paleo Approach Cookbook. In 2014 she made The New York Times Best Seller List with her book The Paleo Approach: Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body.
