Summary

David Hagberg's New York Times bestselling Kirk McGarvey series continues in Retribution, with a deadly mission to take down a monstrous serial killer
On May 1, 2011, a team of twenty-four members of US SEAL Team Six swooped down on the compound of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Their mission, code-named Neptune Spear, was to find and kill the terrorist leader. The mission was a success.

Since that day, elements of the government of Pakistan have harbored a deep hatred for the SEALs who violated their sovereign territory. Now they've hired a team of German assassins to kill all twenty-four of the ST6 operators...and only one man stands a chance of stopping them: legendary former Director of the CIA Kirk McGarvey.

Booklist Review

Kirk McGarvey returns in Hagberg's latest ultraviolent thriller, though he doesn't officially make an appearance until the tale is well under way. The SEAL team responsible for taking out Osama bin Laden received accolades from most of the world, except for some terrorists who bide their time waiting for revenge. A team of German assassins receives orders to wipe out the entire bin Laden attack team without any concern for collateral damage. As the men start to get picked off one by one (in extremely gruesome ways), McGarvey must utilize all his contacts and expertise to end the reign of terror. Though the action is nonstop and McGarvey is always a compelling protagonist, the story line might be a bit rougher than previous installments and could deter some readers. Still, the idea of retribution for our country's actions makes for an intriguing premise.--Ayers, Jeff Copyright 2015 Booklist
