Library Journal Review

By following these 50 decorating designs, readers of all ages can easily turn store-bought cookies into eye-catching custom creations such as adorable acorns (made from nutter butter cookies, pretzel sticks, candy coating, and sprinkles) and pretty princess wands (made from star-shaped cookies, lollipop sticks, candy coating, and edible glitter). In each of these projects, Johnstone ( employs easy techniques similar to those used in Karen Tack and Alan Richardson's Hello, Cupcake! and Cupcakes, Cookies & Pie, Oh, My! For instance, frostings are melted and used as a coating, and candies and confections (sometimes cut into shapes) become colorful embellishments. VERDICT Johnstone's charming decorated cookies require minimal time and equipment and no baking. This is her debut title and a great resource for kid-friendly decorating projects and last-minute party favors. (c) Copyright 2014.
