"The Our Lady of Victory Basilica and National Shrine, in Lackawanna, New York, was build from 1921 to 1926, and stands as a monument of one man's faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Msgr. Nelson Baker, also known as 'Padre of the Poor, ' was well known in the Western New York are for his charitiable institutions for orphans and the poor. At the age of 79, Father Baker teamed up with Emile Uhlrich, a French born architect, to build a magnificent shrine. Soon after its completion Our Lady of Victory was officially designated the second minor basilica in the United States." -- Liner.
