Jeffrey Lant seems to be a professional self-promoter, having authored books on consulting, conducting seminars, ``succeeding in the advice business,'' and getting ``ahead by exploiting the media.'' (He obviously practices what he preaches, since this book is filled with references to his own publications and projects.) Despite typography that crowds the page, Money Making Marketing successfully translates textbook marketing principles into sound, practical advice and unusual, useful tips. Lant's suggestions encompass do-it-yourself market research, direct mail, telephone selling, classified and other inexpensive advertising, and appearances on talk shows.
