Booklist Review

The authors, all members of Cornell University's Department of Government, argue that the economic policies of the Reagan administration have inflicted serious damage on the American economy and society. They further challenge the Democratic party to push forward new ideas, claiming the proposals they offer will provide economic growth with fairness for all. Modernization of manufacturing facilities, public works programs, a vigorous and effective trade policy, reparation of holes in the U.S. social and human resources ``safety net,'' and elimination of the budget deficit are endorsed as salient solutions. In contrast to the vague slogans of campaign advertising, the authors offer specific details for the programs they support. A helpful background book for this year's presidential election. Bibliography; no index. DAR. 338.973 U.S.-Economic policy-1981- [CIP] 88-4682
