Quilters want to make small but wonderful items to wear, give, or decorate their homes. "Small" is a key characteristic because quilters who are busy or love to make gifts look for projects that take less time and material than a bed quilt or large wall hanging. When Quilt Designers Think Small presents 20 projects all small in size, but huge in creativity. Each is a unique, imaginative design by one of ten top quilters we challenged to "think small." For example, one designer made a quilted glasses case embellished with a beaded dragonfly. A second topped a storage box with bright, 3-D quilted flowers. Other projects include a crazy-quilted purse accented with fabric feathers, a quick-pieced checkerboard that rolls up for travel, a quilted cover for an organizer, a foiled velvet pillow, appliqu¬ placemats, even paper-pieced greeting cards. The impressive designs have a variety of styles and use the hottest techniques of quilting and the fabric arts. Each project has detailed, step-by-step instructions and is fully illustrated with color photography, line drawings, diagrams, and templates. Soon quilters everywhere will be thinking small.

Author Notes

The ten contributors are all leading quilt designers. They include quilt-shop owners, teachers of quilting, fiber artists, and book authors. Their names are Denise Bielick, Debbie Bowles, Barbara Boyd, Janis Bullis, Patricia Converse, Phyllis Dobbs, Karen Bailey Earith, Laura Murray, Susan Stein, and Julann Windsperger. Their designs were photographed, explained, and presented by the award-winning team of editors at Creative Publishing international who have created more than 100 titles on sewing, crafting, and home decorating.
