Booklist Review

Librarians today must look for new ways to promote library services that encourage young adults to utilize the library. This latest title in the Professional Guides for Young Adult Librarians series examines aspects of collection development for teens above and beyond traditional books. Article topics include magazines, graphic novels and comic books, audiobooks, videos, virtual collections, and interactive software and games and are written by librarians working in the field of YA services. A final chapter offers photographs of various shelving and display options. Comprehensive and practical information on each topic is provided. For example, the chapter on magazines includes information about types of magazines, beginning a magazine collection, advantages, disadvantages, points to consider, ordering and processing options, marketing and display ideas, and a list of collection development resources.
