School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 1-Bob, Wendy, and their company of anthropomorphic construction equipment show no sign of losing their touch in this latest collection of adventures. In "Scruffy's Big Dig," a dog falls into a rabbit hole, causing some humorous misunderstandings before Lofty digs him out. "Bob's Boots" are new and squeaky, and attract a family of mice that frighten Lofty. "Mr. Beasley's Do-It-Yourself Disaster" results when Bob and Wendy's hapless customer tries to help them build a shelter for his vegetable patch. "Spud Lends a Hand" features the naughty scarecrow causing trouble, and "Dizzy's Crazy Paving" saves the day when horseplay between the machines results in broken paving stones. Amid the bright claymation and satisfying stories are valuable messages about taking responsibility, working hard, and looking out for your friends.-Kathleen Kelly MacMillan, Maryland School for the Deaf, Columbia (c) Copyright 2010.
