School Library Journal Review

Gr 5-7-The four chapters that comprise this compendium saw the light of day as individual titles in 2003 (though this is never indicated). So, if you already own Dennard's Alligators and Crocodiles, Lizards, Snakes, and/or Turtles (all NorthWord), you may decide you are already covered. If not, this is a sensible combination, replete with superb color photos, laced with "Fun Fact" boxes, decorated with delicate bits of artwork, and rounded off with a bunch of Internet sites for each category. (For the delight of teachers and homeschooling parents but possibly problematic for libraries, each chapter includes a worksheet for a field trip.) The simply written texts are informative, and keep pace with the photos and illustrations.-Patricia Manning, formerly at Eastchester Public Library, NY (c) Copyright 2010.
