Library Journal Review

This new edition of City Profiles USA has been not only updated but expanded to include an international section profiling nine Canadian cities as well as metropolises like London, Tokyo, and Paris, bringing the total number of cities covered to 250. Like the previous editions, it is organized geographically by state and within each state by city. Listings for each city follow the same format and are organized according to information sources, colleges and universities, hospitals, attractions, and events. The book provides detailed contact information (e.g., addresses, phone numbers, web sites) for travel-related services, facilities, and attractions in each city, including information about airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, convention centers, and much more. If your library owns the previous edition, you will want to update it with this one. If you own another similar source that profiles U.S. citiesAthere are quite a few on the marketAyou probably don't need to supplement it with this one. But it's a solid purchase for large public libraries needing an up-to-date source. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
