Reviews 1

School Library Journal Review

Gr 9 Up-These titles include an overview of each field, its history, job descriptions, requirements, employers, advancement, earnings, work environment, outlook, and more. The first page of each chapter also has a gray box of quick facts that go to the heart of the matter: school subjects needed, personal skills, minimum education, and salary range. The writing style in both books is pretty cut-and-dried. Occasionally terms are used but not defined, and there are no glossaries. While the colorful covers are attractive, the internal photos are sparse and in black and white. These titles are similar to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (JIST, 2004) but concentrate on just one area. Solid, up-to-date additions.-Laura Younkin, Ballard High School, Louisville, KY (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
