Booklist Review

Candida, or yeast infection, is said to affect one in three people. In an updated edition of a very helpful guide, Burton offers a lengthy and alarming list of the disease's possible symptoms, while warning of the great difficulty many physicians have in diagnosing it. As one means of controlling Candida--a dietary approach--Burton has developed low-carbohydrate recipes that avoid numerous foods thought to exacerbate the condition, including sugar, fruit, cheese, alcoholic beverages, and many flours. She suggests substitutions for common ingredients for a full range of dishes, all to help sufferers formulate a successful prevention plan. Sources for special products are included. ~--Alice Joyce
