Library Journal Review

The ColdFusion application server component of Macromedia's MX suite allows web developers to create dynamic sites that interact with underlying databases. Training's CD features trial versions of Dreamweaver MX and ColdFusion Server, but the book is not bound well and may not stand up to repeated use. Chapters take the form of step-by-step lessons, beginning with a useful topic and time-completion outline and including notes answering common questions. This beginner's guide would be most helpful to readers already familiar with HTML and/or Dreamweaver MX (LJ 1/03); appropriate for all libraries. Certified trains experienced developers for Macromedia's Certified ColdFusion Developer exam. Each chapter includes sample questions; tips, notes, cautions, and cross references help anticipate common pitfalls. A good purchase for larger libraries that already own more basic texts; it teaches to the test rather than helping developers learn ColdFusion from scratch. (c) Copyright 2010.
