"This mural, based on Charles Lamb's essay, 'A Dissertation on a Roast Pig, ' occupied a place over the fireplace in the Grosvenor Library refectory [in Buffalo, New York] prior to 1963. It was salvaged and restored when the library was moved to this building [the Central Library of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (N.Y.)]. Rafael Beck, a popular local artist, painted it in the nineteen-twenties"--Note on card affixed to back of painting.
