The volume is bound in antique vellum, with the half-title and author written by hand on the spine. The vellum is missing from the front cover, which bears the hand-printed phrase in capitals, "Hoc liber." The back cover bears a drawing of a cross with the initials, "I.E.P." One of the front flyleaves bears two manuscript ownership notes : "Ex libris Andrea Cowan 1709," and "Librarius Donald Macleod 1844."
