School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-7‘Morris introduces three very real, gutsy, thoughtful young people and describes their incredible, albeit true, heroic adventures. A girl rescued herself from a shark attack on a Florida beach; a young man risked his life to save a girl dangling from a ski lift; and an eight-year-old girl drove through the frozen Canadian wilderness to get help for her injured father. Morris makes strong use of setting, mood, foreshadowing, and characterization to help build suspense, and, more importantly, helps readers fully understand the young people's thoughts, fears, and determination. The language is clear and combines with fast pacing to make the book a grabber for hi-low readers. A strong addition for any collection.‘Joan Soulliere, Wenham Public Library, MA (c) Copyright 2010.
