Summary

Summary

In his own inconspicuous way, Bill Moss is one of the gospel music idiom's innovative figures. The brother to another of gospel's trailblazers, the late Mattie Moss Clark, Moss and his group the Celestials -- comprised of his wife, Essay Moss, and daughter, Theresa Moss -- hit the big time during the early '70s with their crossover smash "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" and the upbeat, jubilistic favorite "Already Been to the Water." After a number of nondescript releases during the '80s and '90s with a number of different entities, Moss and the Celestials once again join forces for this project, released in 2002. Recorded live in their hometown of Detroit, MI, the project features a number of traditional- and contemporary-flavored songs showcasing the raw, gut-wrenching vocal style that endeared this group to many a gospel music fan. Included are updates of their aforementioned classics "Already Been to the Water" and "Everything's Gonna Be Alright." ~ Tim A. Smith
