1758 edition : The volume is bound in light brown suede over boards, with two metal clasps, one of them intact, at the outer edge. All page edges are gilt. The endpapers are marbled in red, white, blue, and yellow ; the front bound endpaper bears the initials in capitals, "MVH." The first front flyleaf bears a gift note in Dutch to Maria Voorhees from Maria van Harlingen, June 17, 1765 ; its verso records Maria Voorhees's birthdate and the date of her marriage to Jaques Van Leuven ; and the next front flyleaf records the birthdates of their children from 1774 through 1789.
