School Library Journal Review

Gr 10 Up-Jon Warren, the New York Times bureau chief in Jerusalem, finds himself in the center of an international intrigue. A group of Iranians is plotting to ignite an Israeli civil war. Jon unravels and attempts to thwart the plot, at the risk of his career and life. Aside from the protagonist, characterization is weak and characters are difficult to keep straight. This confusion is not helped by the short chapters that jump around chronologically. A knowledge of Israeli culture would be helpful to readers, as not all references are explained well in the glossary. A strong point is the use of recent news events woven into Jon's life.-Paula J.
