1853 edition (Vol. I, Nos. 7 (Feb. 12, 1853), 9, 13-16, 18-26 ; Vol. II, Nos. 27 (July 2, 1853)-31, 33-38 (Sept. 17, 1853) : The volume is half-bound in tan calf, now badly deteriorated, over boards marbled in tan, black, and red. The title and volume number are stamped in gilt in a black levant label pasted on the spine, now split in half and coming off. The volume is further protected by a dustjacket of plain brown paper, itself now brittle and crumbling. Some pages have been mixed up between different dates of issue.
