1865 edition : The volume is bound in imitation morocco cloth over bevelled boards, with elaborate borders stamped in black on the front cover and blindstamped on the back cover. The title is stamped in gilt on the front cover, and a full-color illustration is pasted on. The spine has the series, running bottom to top, embossed within a field stamped in gilt. The front free endpaper bears a gift note in pencil, "Merry Christmas 1872, Sammie Blossom."
