School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 2-A simple, loving story of the special bond between a child and his grandfather. On a dark, stormy evening, there is a rap on Grandpa's door, and Jamie opens it to find a featherless bird. They bring the animal in out of the cold, warm him with dry towels, and name him Thomas. For a while, he lives in the house, but for obvious reasons, Grandpa and Jamie build Thomas a home of his own. Soon after, Jamie is in for a big surprise: Thomas has laid an egg, and the chicken becomes Thomasina. The small pen and colored-pencil illustrations are bright and cheerful. A slight, gentle tale, pleasantly told.-Meghan R. Malone, Turner Free Library, Randolph, MA (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
