A rewriting in American English of the English dialect adaptation of the old ballad "Lord Bateman, " (with title "The loving ballad of Lord Bateman, ") to which George Cruikshank, Charles Dickens, and possibly also William Makepeace Thackeray made contributions. 1860s edition : The volume is sewn in a yellow wrapper, with the title, series, publisher, and location as part of a full-page illustration in red and black on the front cover. The spine has been repaired with clear adhesive tape. Page [1] bears the signature, "Willie Marsh," and page [3] bears the signature, "Charlie Marsh."
