Summary

Summary

It's Christmas Eve.
The presents are wrapped.
The tree is decorated.
The stockings are up.
Santa's milk and cookies
are set out.
And Princess Dinosaur and
her friends are fast asleep.
Ssshh...
All is quiet and peaceful at
Princess Dinosaur's house.

Only kidding!!!!!

There is absolutely, positively, definitely, and completely nothing quiet and peaceful about Christmas with Princess Dinosaur! But a merry, merry Christmas it most certainly will be!

Booklist Review

PreS. In this follow-up to Princess Dinosaur (2001), the title character, an irresistible green toy, returns for another high-energy episode. It's Christmas Eve, and Princess Dinosaur is a whirlwind of excitement. Unable to wait until morning, she gives her other toy friends their gifts to open. Then she can't sleep, worried that everything isn't ready for Santa. She tiptoes downstairs, polishes off Santa's cookies, and then heads outside for some over-the-top preparations. She shuffles through the snow, writing Santa a message ("I'm down here!), then climbs up the roof and slides down the chimney to make sure Santa can navigate both. She finally falls asleep in the branches of the Christmas tree until morning--when special presents appear. Like the previous book, this one is more unfocused action than cohesive story, but very young children will respond to the vibrant, thickly brushed watercolor-and-pen illustrations. They'll also see themselves in Princess, who resembles a wildly energetic preschooler, dressed in a crown and a billowing skirt, giddy about Christmas, and adorable--despite her assorted claws and fangs. --Gillian Engberg

Publisher's Weekly Review

The heroine of Princess Dinosaur returns in Merry Christmas, Princess Dinosaur! by Jill Kastner. The gal goes into a Christmas Eve frenzy, giving gifts to her toy-box compadres, and imploring Santa with a giant message in the snow. (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved

School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 1-On Christmas Eve, after exchanging presents with her fellow toys, Princess Dinosaur tries to wait up for Santa Claus but instead falls asleep. Kids will enjoy revisiting the toy characters from Princess Dinosaur (Greenwillow, 2001) and will relate to both the protagonist's silly antics and to her worries about Santa finding the house and fitting through the chimney. An energetic light fantasy with splashy, bright watercolor and pen-and-ink art.-M. W. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
