Local Note:
The volume is half-bound in brown morrocco over marbled boards. The spine is stamped in gilt and bears a small sticker with the number "235" in black ink. The left front endpaper bears the ownership sticker, "W.H.H. Newman, Buffalo, N.Y., No. 235." The front flyleaf bears the same owner's signature and faces the right front flyleaf which bears two newspaper articles from 1889, one of the origin of the Shia sect of Islam, and the other on the Parsees of India. There are enclosed two other newspaper articles from that year, both on Sir Edwin Arnold's lectures in Cambridge, Massachusetts on the philosophy of the Upanishads.
