1891 edition: 18.9 x 14.3 cm. The printer's imprint, "MADE IN GERMANY," is at the bottom of the front cover. The volume is bound in red cloth over boards with a brown fabric spine, and with the cover title and an elaborate border stamped in gilt on the front cover. The folding illustration strip is affixed to the front endpaper; the rear endpaper has a map of the Niagara Falls region. The title page has only the full title. The text pages are of plain machined paper, now discolored and very brittle. Two otherwise blank leaves bear handwritten notes addressed to the reader by a previous owner based on the owner's experiences.
