Booklist Review

Gr. 3^-5. From the Kids Can series, this craft book shows children how to use paper to make a wide range of objects such as books, jewelry, cards, mobiles, mats, and boxes. The presentation is practical. Each project begins with a picture of the finished product, a list of materials, and good, step-by-step directions. The black-and-white illustrations are mainly utilitarian, clearly showing the materials needed and the process of making each craft. Those pictures feature a commendably diverse cast, including a boy in a wheelchair as well as kids from various racial groups. A good bet for teachers and scout leaders, this shows how to make a number of appealing projects using inexpensive and readily available materials. --Carolyn Phelan
