Choice Review

This volume serves as an excellent resource for nearly 50 sports suitable for the disabled, from recreational to competitive and from mainstream to specialized. Paciorek and Jones organize the book according to sport, devoting to each a chapter that includes general overview, basic rules, a list of the appropriate governing boards (both national and international), and information about the most common disability of participants. In addition, the authors detail modifications of rules and/or equipment and provide sources of equipment, supplies, etc. Despite the fact that information about sources can be outdated quickly, this third edition of a handbook first published as Sports and Recreation for the Disabled updates and replaces earlier editions (1989, 1994). Recommended for all readership levels and groups. R. L. Jensen Northern Michigan University
