1749 edition, Vol. I: [A]⁸ B-X¹² Y⁶; [i]-[viii] [1]-240 241-[246]; 13 x 8.8 cm. The printer's imprint is absent. The volume is bound in brown calf, with the half-title (in a maroon levant label) and volume number stamped in gilt on the spine. The endpapers and text pages are of plain white laid paper. The overall title page has the full title, author, engraved illustration by Ravenet, and the date in Roman numerals. The volume title page lists the contents. The preface page includes an engraving of the Shaftesbury arms, also by Ravenet. Page [vii] bears a signature in the upper right corner: "Geo: Smith."
