Local Note:
American edition: 21.2 x 17.1 cm. The printer's imprint, "Engraved and printed by Henry Stone and Son Ltd., Banbury, England," is on the verso of the last plate. The volume is bound in white machined paper over boards, with a full-color design, including the title in gilt, embossed on the front cover. The endpapers are of white machined paper, now somewhat yellowed and brittle; the front free endpaper bears the gift note, "Marion de Mauriac from Uncle Jim and Aunt Josie, Christmas 1915." The title page, like the text pages, is in dark green ink on shiny paper, with the title, author, illustrator, an illustration, publisher, and place of publication. The color plates are accompanied by poems on the opposite pages, both plates and pages being blank on their reverses.
